After months and months of deciding whether to get myself a new camera or not, I’ve finally gone and done it. I am now officially part of an Olympian Olympus Pen club. For the past years I’ve been using a Nikon D90 which is a fantastic piece of tech, but for days out and trips abroad it’s just not practical for those spontaneous snaps. Whilst the Nikon isn’t the heaviest camera in the world, it’s more the size that’s an issue. Cramming it into a beach bag for the day definitely isn’t an option which eventually I will ended up using a mobile phone. This led me to the decision that purchasing a compact camera before I jet off to a couple of travels planned ahead.
What attracted me most was the E-PL7's leather-look retro appearance. I went to the decision of choosing the Silver & Black body as it looks more classic and style, just like those old film cameras. All black looks too boring to me and I really loved the white & cream color (which caught my attention originally at first), but to withstand it from getting dirty, especially if handled by sweaty hands, stains from food etc. would be an issue.
Whilst I still love my D90, as it was my first DSLR camera, I could foresee myself bring along E-PL7 for travelling more. "Sorry D90 for not letting you see the world" But, I will definitely bring it out for shooting opportunities when there is any as I think I had not explore the full potential of this great D90. I was told that if I bought this camera, I wouldn’t regret it – and they were right. Now all I need to do is learn how to use it to utilize it full capacity. Viewers please feel free to advise on the greatness of E-PL7.
I shall not comment on the specs as they are easily be found here.
